Filter hours by group with new display options

On the ‘Hours & shifts per person’ page, we have added a new, useful feature. You can now request the hours of persons who are in specific (current) groups.

Overview: People not in a group

Previously, the groups download only included people who were linked to a group. However, sometimes you may want to check if there are any people who haven’t been assigned to a group yet.

It happens frequently that our customers ask why it is that the mail arrives in the spam box. Our joint mail reputation plays an important role in ensuring that the e-mail messages end up in the inbox and not in the spam box.

Sending Request to Sign Up to New Volunteers or Members

One of the most important forms in ShiftPlanner is the 'Send commitment request'. With this form, you can easily send a personalized email to new people, with standard texts that you can adjust to your liking.

Add shifts to your calendar

You can add your shifts to your own calendar by adding the calendar (link) from Inzetrooster to your calendar. The instructions for the iPhone/iPad have changed.

Sort order is saved

By default, people are sorted by first name on the 'people' page. Sometimes you want this to sort by last name, exempt or user_id. Then it's annoying if you have to choose that every time and reload the page.

Addressbook shifts history (privacy)

In some cases, it is not desired that the history of shifts also remains visible to everyone who is logged in. The administrator can now set that to not be visible to each other.

Error in counting shift hours

In November, a new functionality was created where you can copy shifts. When copying the shift, the 'noshow' was set to 'NULL' instead of '0' which meant the count did go wrong.

Already more than 1.3 million shifts rostered. How time has flown by. I remember how it all started....

Copying shifts is now also possible

A much requested option is now available. You can now copy services from a period to a new period. This is especially useful if there is a fixed schedule. You can copy up to 1000 services in one.

New filter for calendar

The filter on the calendar page is now the same as on the all shifts and open shifts page. With the premium products, you can also filter by locations.

The filter at 'open shifts' is now almost the same as the filter at 'All shifts'. This makes it a bit clearer and also has more options.

Surpassing MySQL's TIME value limit of 838:59:59

On the 'Hours and shifts per person' page, hours were added up from the database with a function that allowed time range up to a maximum of '838:59:59' hours.

From Subdomain naar Subdirectory

Next Monday, a major upgrade is planned for ShiftPlanner. The main change is that the account name will be moved from a subdomain to a subdirectory. This means the URL structure will be changed.

Exporting shifts now also with days

When exporting, you can now also select certain days (e.g. Saturday and/or Sunday) for a certain period.

Better insight into changed data

Via: Admin -> Overviews -> Online activity, you can see who has done which actions. Now you can also see which data has changed.

Filter for shifts is now remembered

If you click on the 'All shifts' page, you will see all shifts. You could then use the filter to see only certain groups. But you had to specify that every time you went back to the page. This filter option is now remembered.

Bakers whipped cake action!

For the past two weeks, we've had a fantastic cake promotion. As an administrator, all you had to do was share a catchy 'user experience' in about 50 words, and voilà, a delicious baker's cream cake was sent your way!

Package price increase for first time in 10 years

ShiftPlanner has maintained stable prices for ten years. But unfortunately, we cannot escape raising our prices by 10% now, starting from 1 July. Although it is our very first price increase in ten years.

Password indicator

It is very annoying when you enter a new password and try to save it you then get the message that it does not meet certain conditions. Then you have to enter the password again. Now we show while typing whether it meets.

Login via our website

Each account has its own internet site with login page. (https://accountname.shiftplanner.org). But often the organisation is searched through our site (https://shiftplanner.org). From now on, these sites will be saved/pinned with which you log in.

Time zone for shifts adjusted

Shiftplanner keeps all date and time columns time zone aware. These values stored in the database as UTC and were converted back to the current Time.zone when retrieved from the database. This has advantages and disadvantages.

Gender definition updated

We had an outdated gender registrate of only Male (M), Female (V) and Unknown. We changed that following the gender inclusive guide (The Gender Book). Now you can also indicate if you are Non-binary or just don't want to say.

Update for buttons on forms

Many buttons give feedback on submit.

Adjust configuration setting

Adjust configuration setting: There are several options for transferring shifts. For 'Transfer shifts (deadline)' and only the option 'User must contact administrator', the shift cannot be taken over via the pages -> 'All shifts' or 'Open shifts' from

The statistics have been adjusted slightly.

There was also ambiguity about the tooltip showing the start and end dates of the weeks. As these are shown per week/year, week 0 belongs to last year's week.

New setting for transfering shifts

You can turn off selecting 20 people at random by choosing the 'Search for one specific person only' option. This may be desirable if most people have fixed days and cannot take over the shifts of other days.

Old Internet explorer is unfortunately no longer supported

Following an update to a newer version with more features for ShiftPlanner, the old Internet explorer is unfortunately no longer supported. Not even by Microsoft:

Automatic links in comments

You can now put a link (https://....) in the comments of a shift. This then automatically becomes a link to a new (browser) window. Very handy if you want to provide additional instruction that is in a different location.

We are continuously replacing old code with new code.

In the coming month, we will mainly be working on visible (small) changes. This may sometimes make it look slightly different/modern.

Deleted groups visable again

You cannot delete a group (to which shifts are still linked). They will then no longer be visible.

Enabled autofill on forms

We had disabled autofill in the administrator forms, but it turned out that it no longer worked for all browsers. We have done an update that should make this work again for all browsers.

New 'Tour' for administrators

We have a new 'Tour' for administrators on the administration page. This is especially useful for new administrators who do not yet know their way around Inzetrooster.

There is now an additional administrative role.

You can make a person 'Editor', who can then edit shifts and persons. More information on the roles and rights page.

Username is now send it along with the login information

Because for many users it is not clear that your username is not the same as your email address, we now send it along with the login information. It often happens that in a family the email address is shared.

Network problems between 12pm and 2pm

Today there were network problems between 12pm and 2pm at the provider. These are now solved. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

We will not be sending reminders for some unsigned shifts

Starting tomorrow, we will not be sending reminders for shifts for which a transfer request is open. It doesn't look very friendly to the volunteer who has an open request. So we will not send reminders.

New option for picket, watch, call or consignment shifts.

By default, there is a check for signing up for dubble shifts. Individuals cannot sign up for shifts at the same time. You can now turn it off for shifts in groups

On login redirect you to 'My page' instead of the 'Home' page

The login button (access token) in the email will now redirect you to 'My page' instead of the 'Home' page when you receive a reminder for your shift.

username can only be changed by the administrator(s)

From now on, the username can only be changed by the administrator(s). You can no longer change your username via the profile page. This was done because most administrators want to keep control over the username themselves.

Phone number validation changed

The validation of the phone number has been changed from a minimum of 10 digits to 9 digits for the belgian organizations. In belgium, 10 digits are not always used.

Large imports took too long in our opinion

The import module is now modified and is now four times faster :-)

Online activity cq log has been significantly improved.

You can now also find new added shifts and persons (with any changes) in the logbook.

The application has had some minor style changes

The headers have a slimmer font and the arrows in the management section have been moved to the left side.

Notified when a transfer request is still active.

As a general point of contact, you will now be notified of any upcoming shifts where a transfer request is still active.

We've have added the number of shifts assigned to each group

At your request, we have added the number of shifts assigned to each group on the Manage Groups overview. You can also see this via Statistics, but we figured it might be useful to have it here, too!

Easy unlink a volunteer from a shift

You can unlink a volunteer from a shift by selecting the first option in the dropdown box. As this was not clear to account administrators, we have now added the option to 'unlink' someone (pictured), which should make things a little easier.

It's now easier to share a filtered selection from the All Shifts page

We have adjusted the check- and radio boxes on all forms

These were not good enough on some browsers (like Firefox). They are now slightly larger and clearer with a green 'tick'.

Small change for modifying a password

It must now be at least 8 characters long and contain a number and a capital letter.

For organizations with multiple accounts there is now also a portal login

For administrators working with multiple accounts there is now also a portal login where you can get an overview of all your accounts. Contact us if you are also an administrator of multiple accounts and would like to have such an overview.

See how many shifts are going to be added

You can now directly see how many shifts you are going to add by using the 'Add recurrent shifts' form. You can also remove a shift if you exceed the limit of 1000 repeated shifts at a time.

When adding repeating shifts, it could happen that wrong groups were linked.

Bugfix: When adding repeating shifts, it could happen that wrong groups were linked. This only happened if a copy of a shift was added that was further down in the select box. In that case, the first group was selected.

Statistics on corana

In last year's statistics you can clearly see when there were measures for corana. Week 12 and week 41. You see it yourself in your own account via management -> statistics.

Sending the mails was not started after reboot

Yesterday the server was restarted after we made a small change. Then the background process that should send the mails was not started. Because of this, the e-mails were delivered later in the day. Our apologies for this.

New server for our application

Last week we set up a new server for the application. Yesterday everything was transferred. The server was 5 years old and is now ready with the latest techniques for the coming years 💪.

The statistics have been expanded with an overview graph

In the update of the Dutyroster, the statistics have been adjusted and expanded with an overview graph of (registered, open, noshows and cancelled) services shown in weeks.

You were already able to switch sender during a 'Request for registration' (if the general sender address is not the same as that of the person logged in). But this option was not clear enough. We have now made it clearer.

Public groups with shifts

In July we had done an update that you also make shifts form a group public so that even people who are not logged in can see these shifts via a public link.

Persons comments for administrators

As the administrator, you will see the person's comments right now. You no longer need to go to the form to see these comments.

The link 'Management' is now a different color in the menu

We have widened the distinction in the main menu between 'regular' users and administrators. The link 'Management' is now a different color and is only seen by administrators.
